Minutes from April 2009
Eastern Oregon Museum Association Fall Meeting – October 14, 2008 Union, Oregon

Those present were: Betty Elliot, Grant County Ranch and Rodeo Museum, Nadia Schultz, DeWitt Museum, Amy Poff, JD Fossil Beds Natl. Mon., Malissa Minthorn Winks from Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, Randall Melton, Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, Kathleen Almquist, Eastern Oregon Fire Museum & Learning Center, Joan Jacobs, Baker Heritage Museum & Adler House, Blanche Kohler, Union County Museum, Sharon Hostadt, Union County Museum Society President, Jayne Primrose, Grant Co. Historical Museum.

11:05 AM – Vice President, Nadia Schultz called the meeting to order. Our president, Chary Mires, has retired from the Baker Heritage Museum. We were glad to have several new people attend our meeting. The April, 2007 minutes were read and approved. Notes from the October 2007 were read as no official business meeting took place that day.

Nadia asked for nominations for officers. Blanche Kohler was nominated as president, Nadia Schultz was nominated to remain as the Vice President/Treasurer and Jayne Primrose was nominated to remain as Secretary. The slate was approved as presented.

Dues of $5.00 per museum for 2 years were collected with Tamastslikt, GC Ranch & Rodeo and E.O. Fire Museum all joining for the first time!

The next meeting on April 14th, 2009 will be hosted by Tamastslikt and E.O. Fire Museum will host the October 13, 2009 meeting.

Each museum gave an overview of their 2008 season with its up’s and down’s. Several had lower visitor numbers due to high gas prices, but Union actually had more visitors than previously!

We adjourned in time to enjoy a delicious lunch of salad or sandwiches. After lunch, our guests, Randall Melton and Malissa Minthorn Winks, from Tamastslikt presented the program. The institute has received authorization and a grant from Oregon Parks and Recreation provide training in several areas to small museums in Eastern Oregon at no cost to the museum. Many of us were excited to hear that this help is available and to have a “face to put with the letters” that came in the mail. We then toured the Union Museum and got a glimpse as several new projects that are just getting underway there!

Respectfully submitted,

Jayne L. Primrose
Secretary
